Series that you would recommend

One of the series that has really captivated me has been "Anne with an E," which is an adaptation of Lucy Maud Montgomery's books. This Canadian series, comprised of 3 seasons with 27 episodes in total, was created by Moira Walley-Beckett and produced by Northwood Anne, Northwood Entertainment and Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.

This story begins when siblings Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert decide to adopt an orphan boy to help them work on their farm in Green Gables, just outside the town of Avonlea on Prince Edward Island. However, when Matthew arrives at the train station to pick up the orphan boy, he realizes that the orphanage has made a mistake, as there is only one red-haired girl named Anne Shirley in the place. At first Marilla is not convinced to adopt her, as they needed someone who could work on the farm, and she was too skinny for that, but over time Anne wins her affection, so she can start this new life in a real home.

Even if in the first chapters it may seem like a typical drama series, as the chapters go by, the characters that make up the Avonlea people became known, such as Diana Barry, Gilbert Blythe, Jerry Baynard, Cole Mackenzie, Mrs. Rachel Lynde, among others. Who present us with problematic situations with respect to the characteristic themes of a conservative society of 1890, with misogyny, classism, racism, xenophobia, bullying, machismo, child abuse in teaching methods, the importance of the status quo, etc.

And above all, the girl power and feminism that Anne represents. She proves that gender bias, beauty standards and homophobia must end. Since, we all have the same rights regardless of our skin color, our gender, our sexual orientation, our age, etc. In this way, she manages to change the retrograde thoughts of several characters and generate changes in the town so that there is greater acceptance among the inhabitants.

For all these reasons, I love this series and I advise you to watch it at least once.
