A subject I enjoy studying
During this first year in Psychology I have had several interesting subjects, but my favorite one above all has been Basic Psychological Processes. The reason why I like it is simple, it is a subject in which knowledge is acquired through the reading of several chapters of texts and books; for later in class we ask questions about the possible doubts that remained in the reading and make comments on the aspects that most interested us. Personally, I am not one to talk in class, but I did listen attentively to everything my classmates said.
Among the contents covered by the course we find: classical and operant conditioning, intrinsic and extrinsic motivations, psychological needs and social needs, the process of goal setting (both short term and long term), beliefs about personal control, the nature of emotions, aspects of emotion and attachment bonds in humans.
In addition, throughout the semester, we had to carry out reflective assignments that consisted of choosing a topic from the available chapters and then explaining it and formulating a research question about something that caught our attention, to finally create a scientific method capable of approving or rejecting the hypothesis proposed in the work. I consider the format of these evaluations to be an interesting and simple way to understand in profundity the different topics covered in the course and to be able to relate them to our daily lives.
